A ABI Research, empresa líder na área investigação do mercado global, divulgou uma recente pesquisa cujos resultados estimam que o mercado mundial de receptores para a TV digital terrestre (TDT) vai ultrapassar os 350 milhões de unidades, em 2013. Em 2007, o número de receptores vendidos chegou a 65 milhões. O crescimento anual estimado será, em média, de 35%.
A pesquisa aponta ainda que Ásia será um mercado chave para os aparelhos e mostra que as Olimpídas de Beijing terão um impacto no aumento da procura pelos receptores da TV digital terrestre em todo mundo:
“The report says that key markets will be in Asia. While early adopters Japan and South Korea will account for much of the rise, the sheer size of the Chinese market will also have an impact on the global numbers. By 2013, the DMB-T/H system in China will have about 100 million users.
A crucial factor in pushing the rollout of digital video broadcast will be this summer’s Beijing Olympics. By then, DTT receiver penetration will reach nearly 100% of TV households in the U.S. as the last bastions of standard-definition and analog cable convert, the report says.”
